The Methuen Arms Hotel is set in the pretty market town of Corsham, just eight miles from Bath and three miles from Chippenham, is the honey-stoned, Georgian façade of the Methuen Arms Hotel. Individually owned and personally managed, it is one of those rare hotels where guests can combine the best of both town and country living, being at the edge of the parklands of Corsham Court whose gardens were landscaped by Capability Brown.
The Carvers Restaurant, with its candlelit, stoned-walled charm, has a range of individually priced menus as well as an à la carte menu to satisfy even the most discerning palate, with an extensive range of both simple and classical dishes using mainly locally produced meat and fresh vegetables. The table d'hôte menu is a popular family affair for both hotel residents and local diners alike.
Apart from the Georgian architecture, the ancient stone walls, mullioned windows and oak beams of “The Carving Room” date back to the fourteenth century and this section was originally a nunnery. The other wings and buildings around the courtyard at the rear of the building date back from the 1600’s but parts may be earlier. The nunnery became a public house in 1608 and was known as the Red Lion by 1637. Following a recent refurbishment by the current owners it’s now known as the Carving Room, serving a fresh carvery roast each day, alongside our very extensive lunch time menu.
